The UW-Madison Extension Community Food Systems Program is providing no-cost virtual workshops for small-scale food and farming business start-ups on Mondays in April, from April 1st to April 29th.
Join us for the third webinar of the 5-part series on Monday, April 15, 2024. During the webinar titled “Complexities of Partnership: Important Partner Conversations for Your Food or Farming Business,” Extension Specialist James Pyecroft and Extension Cooperative Development Specialist Kelly Maynard will share best practices in partnership conversations from Wisconsin cooperative businesses.
Kelly Maynard is a Cooperative Development Specialist for the University of Wisconsin Center for Cooperatives (UWCC) with expertise in agricultural cooperatives, local food systems, and cooperative business development.
The University of Wisconsin Center for Cooperatives (UWCC) seeks to increase understanding and encourage critical thinking about cooperatives by fostering scholarship and mutual learning among academics, the cooperative community, policy makers and the public. UWCC is the only U.S. university-based center that studies and supports all forms of cooperative business, and they provide valued education and research to a diverse range of business communities.
“We refer entrepreneurs to the Center for Coops when they are curious about starting an agricultural, marketing, or retail cooperative – which essentially means establishing a business with cooperative partners, as opposed to a sole-proprietorship or corporation model. We asked Kelly Maynard to share her expertise in partnership conversations and complexities because building good business partnerships is essential to any successful food or farming venture,” said Jessica Jane Spayde, Food Entrepreneurship Specialist at the Community Food Systems Program at UW-Madison Extension.
