The UW-Madison Extension Community Food Systems Program is providing no-cost virtual workshops for small-scale food and farming business start-ups on Mondays in April, from April 1st to April 29th.
Join us for the fourth webinar of the 5-part series on Monday, April 22, 2024. During the webinar titled “Food Safety in Wisconsin: Licensing for Your Mobile Food Business. Join Extension Educator Lissa Radke and Licensing Specialist Nichole Abbott to learn the process for getting your Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) license to operate a mobile food business. This workshop is relevant for anyone who wants to serve food at a farmers market, festival, or food truck site.
Wisconsin DATCP’s Mission is, “We partner with all the citizens of Wisconsin to grow the economy by promoting quality food, healthy plants and animals, sound use of land and water resources, and a fair marketplace.”
“For many food entrepreneurs, a mobile food business is an excellent first step to test their business idea, refine their value proposition, and hone in on their typical customer. Getting the appropriate licenses for a mobile food business is important for starting a food venture off right,” said Jessica Jane Spayde, Food Entrepreneurship Specialist at the Community Food Systems Program at UW-Madison Extension.
