Food Safety in Wisconsin: Mobile and Transient Retail Food Establishment Licenses and Guidelines for Sampling, as part of 6-week virtual webinar series

The UW-Madison Extension Community Food Systems Program is providing no-cost virtual workshops for small-scale food and farming business start-ups on Mondays from February 10th to March 17th. These live webinars are held virtually on Zoom from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.

Are you looking for guidelines on sampling your product and obtaining a retail food license?

Join us for the first webinar of the series on Monday, February 10th, 2025 at 2:00 pm. During the webinar titled “Food Safety in Wisconsin: Mobile and Transient Retail Food Establishment Licenses and Guidelines for Sampling,” you will hear from Extension Educator Joseph Wendell Miller and Licensing Specialist Charlie Bloom. They will guide you through the process of obtaining mobile and transient licenses from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) and provide guidelines for sampling your product.

Wisconsin DATCP’s Mission is to: “partner with all the citizens of Wisconsin to grow the economy by promoting quality food, healthy plants and animals, sound use of land and water resources, and a fair marketplace.”

“For many food entrepreneurs, sampling a product is an excellent step to test their business idea and hone in on their typical customer. Following guidelines and obtaining the appropriate licenses are important for starting a food venture off right.” said Jessica Jane Spring (formerly Spayde), Food Entrepreneurship Specialist at the Community Food Systems Program at UW-Madison Extension.

All workshops are free to the public and will be hosted on Zoom. Registration for the event is available online at: https://go.wisc.edu/x42633. Visit the FEED Webinar Series homepage at: https://go.wisc.edu/7228t5
