“Wisconsin Food Licensing: Getting Your Transient Retail License through DATCP” is a live Zoom webinar which took place on April 1 at 2pm. Extension Educator Jess Guffey Calkins and Licensing Specialist Charlie Bloom instructed how to navigate the process for getting Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (DATCP) licenses and inspections to sell at your local farmers market. Presenters used examples of licensing for vendors selling eggs, meat, or produce.

Charlie Bloom, Licensing Specialist at DATCP
Charlie is an environmental health professional and Licensing Specialist at the Wisconsin Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection. He conducts food safety inspections and ensures that businesses are in regulatory compliance to achieve safe products for end consumers. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and earned a degree in Environmental Studies.

Jess Guffey Calkins, Community Food Systems Educator
Jess has worked in food systems at Extension since 2019, as well as an additional 10 years in food systems nonprofits, gardens, and farms. Jess is passionate about addressing food policy and planning to improve food accessibility and resilience. Jess lives in Madison, and enjoys hiking and camping with family and friends.
